Volunteer placement with the Rural Women`s Movement (RWM) – Natal, South Africa in collaboration with the Women’s Global Green Action Network (WGGAN)
Experience (not necessarily professional) in social research, writing, video filming and documentary making.
Prepared to work long hours and travel long distances within the province of KwaZulu Natal.
Able to commit to 6 months - one year.
RWM is a grassroots women`s movement working on women`s land, property, housing, and inheritance issues in Natal, South Africa. As a provincial movement they are not a rich organization and are dependant on 300 local Volunteers. RWM is looking for a volunteer with research skills to assist women`s groups to document their stories for use as a lobbying tool for policy changes. Documentation will be through film and taking testimonies.
The volunteer will assist RWM in putting together all their research documents. The skills acquired in the process can then be transferred to representatives of 500 Community Based Organizations RWM is working with.
RWM will provide housing with a local family, transport, stationery, office space, telephone, video camera and film.
RWM will organize meetings/conferences and focus group discussions.
RWM can not cover airfare/visa or daily living expenses – which are estimated at $280 per month.
